Petrova gets big win at Bangkok

BANGKOK, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Nadia Petrova and Nicole Vaidisova Friday were easy quarterfinal winners at the Thailand Open in Bangkok.

Petrova slammed Stephanie Foretz 6-4, 6-0, while the Vaidisova trounced Conchita Martinez 6-3, 6-0, to win her 13th consecutive match.

The 16-year-old Vaidisova is seeking her third title in three weeks after capturing back-to-back tournaments in Seoul and Tokyo. She will face Gisela Dulko in one of Saturday's semifinals. Dulko was a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 winner over Meng Yuan.

Petrova faces Antonella Serra Zanetti in the other semi. Zanetti topped Shahar Peer 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

The champion will earn $30,500.
