NHL: Colorado 7, Calgary 3

DENVER, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Marek Svatos logged his first NHL hat trick and added an assist to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 7-3 victory over the Calgary Flames.

Also scoring for Colorado were Brett McLean, Antti Laaksonen, Patrice Brisebois and Wojtek Wolski, who had his first career NHL goal and added two assists.

Calgary got two goals from Tony Amonte and one from Dion Phaneuf, who also had his first career NHL goal.

The Flames' Miika Kiprusoff allowed seven goals on 41 shots, while David Aebischer made 30 saves for the Avalanche.
