COL FB: Penn State 17, Ohio State 10

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Derrick Williams and Michael Robinson each ran for touchdowns in the second quarter Saturday night as No. 18 Penn State topped sixth-ranked Ohio State, 17-10.

The Nittany Lions rose to 6-0 (3-0 Big Ten) and took sole possession of first place in the Big Ten after Wisconsin lost at Northwestern earlier in the day.

Robinson threw for just 78 yards on 11-of-20 passing and Tony Hunt had 64 yards on 16 carries for Penn State, which totaled only 195 total yards against the Buckeyes' tough defense.

Ohio State fell to 3-2 (1-1 Big Ten).

The Buckeyes had only 230 total yards and had two key turnovers.

Troy Smith went 13-of-25 for 139 yards and rushed for a touchdown. He had a costly interception in the second quarter and committed a late fumble.

Penn State had lost its last three meetings with Ohio State.
