COL FB: Boston Coll. 28, Virginia 17

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Quinton Porter threw for 301 yards and one touchdown Saturday as 17th-ranked Boston College beat No. 25 Virginia, 28-17.

Porter was playing in his first game since spraining his ankle a month ago. He went 25-of-37 and threw one interception.

Linebacker Brian Toal, the Eagles' power running back near the goal line, added two short touchdown runs. L.V. Whitworth had 73 yards rushing, and Andre Callender had 11 carries for 119 yards and one touchdown for the Eagles (5-1, 2-1 ACC), who have won three straight after a loss to Florida State.

Toal's first score followed a blocked punt in the second quarter.

Marques Hagans was 21-of-35 for 195 yards, two touchdowns and one interception and also rushed for 37 yards on 11 attempts. Michael Johnson had 52 yards on 11 carries for Virginia (3-2, 1-2 ACC), which has lost two in a row.
