MLB: San Francisco 3, Arizona 1

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Brett Tomko recorded a complete-game, 6-hit victory Sunday in the San Francisco Giants' season-ending 3-1 decision over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The decision allowed the Giants to snap a five-game losing streak and end the season 75-87, in third place in the NL West. Arizona wound up 77-85 and in second place in the division.

Moises Alou went 2-for-3 with a home run and Randy Winn had two hits for the Giants.

Chad Tracy went 1-for-4 and scored the lone run for Arizona, which had won seven straight heading into the game.

Tomko (8-15) allowed one run while striking out four and walking none. It was the 12th career complete game and the third this season for the right-hander.

Absorbing the loss was Brandon Webb (14-12) who pitched seven innings of nine-hit, three-run ball with five strikeouts and a walk.
