TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- The 18th-ranked Arizona State Sun Devils downed the Northwestern Wildcats, 52-21, in non-conference action in Tempe, Ariz.
Sam Keller threw for 409 yards and four touchdowns, and completed 20-of-31 throws for the Sun Devils (2-1). Keegan Herring also had a big game for Arizona State, as he rushed for 197 yards and two scores on 23 carries.
Derek Hagan led the wide outs with five catches for 90 yards and one score, while Matt Miller added three receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown.
For the Wildcats (2-1), Brett Basanez finished the game with 224 passing yards and two touchdowns on 24-of-37 pass attempts. His primary outlet was Shaun Herbert, who pulled in eight balls for 46 yards and two scores. Tyrell Sutton paced the ground attack with 98 yards on 15 carries.
