BERKELEY, Calif., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Justin Forsett rushed for a career-high 187 yards with two touchdowns and 15th-ranked California stunned Illinois 35-20 Saturday.
Forsett, subbing for injured starter Marshawn Lynch, needed just 16 carries and added 43 receiving yards on three catches as the Bears overcame a 10-point halftime deficit.
Marcus O'Keith added 66 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Cal (3-0), which rolled up 294 yards on the ground and outscored the Illini 28-3 after intermission.
Tim Brasic went 21 of 37 for 228 yards and ran for a score for the Illini (2-1), who dominated the first half but were shut down by the Cal defense after the break.
Illinois held a 17-7 lead at the break and held the ball over 21 1/2 minutes in the first half, but mustered just five first downs and 127 total yards over the final 30 minutes.
