TORONTO, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- David Ortiz hit a pair of homers, including the game-winner in the 11th inning, to propel Boston to a 6-5 win over Toronto Monday night.
Ortiz ended 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and three runs scored for the Red Sox, who blew a 5-0 lead but managed to pull off their second win in three games. Manny Ramirez added a two-run homer for Boston, which increased its AL East lead to 3 1/2 games over the idle New York Yankees.
With two outs in the 11th, Ortiz sent a 3-2 offering from Pete Walker (6-5) into the seats in right-center field.
Jonathan Papelbon (1-1) worked the final three innings for the Red Sox to get his first major league win.
Vernon Wells had a three-run homer for the Blue Jays, who have lost consecutive games after winning three straight.
