ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira hit a three-run homer in the fifth-inning Sunday to power the Texas Rangers to a 7-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

Kenny Rogers (13-7) pitched six innings to earn the win. Michael Young had two hits and an RBI, as the Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak.

Marco Scutaro homered and drove in three runs for Oakland.

The Athletics next head to Cleveland for a three-game series with the wild card-leading Indians. Oakland entered Sunday's action trailing the Tribe by 1 1/2 games.
