WNBA: Connecticut 73, Indiana 68

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Taj McWilliams-Franklin scored 24 points Thursday night as Connecticut beat Indiana, 73-68, in Game 1 of the WNBA's Eastern Conference finals.

The Sun will host the final two games of the best-of-three series at Uncasville, Conn., with Game 2 Saturday.

Nykesha Sales had 13 points, and Lindsay Whalen added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Sun. Indiana star Tamika Catchings suffered a mild concussion and was limited to just 10 points in 26 minutes. Catchings was just 2-of-11 from the floor. She was hurt with 13:48 left in the first half and did not return until after halftime.

Kelly Miller led Indiana with 14 points. Kelly Schumacher and Deanna Jackson each added 12 points for the Fever.
