OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- The Seattle Mariners downed the Oakland Athletics, 3-2, on Mike Morse's RBI seventh-inning, tie-breaking single at McAfee Coliseum.

Joel Pineiro (6-9) pitched eight solid innings of two-run ball, permitting six hits with five strikeouts and one walk to pick up the win.

For the Mariners, Jose Lopez and Ichiro Suzuki each drove in a run, while Morse collected a pair of hits.

Oakland starter Joe Kennedy (7-10) permitted three runs, two earned, on six hits in 6 1/3 innings of work to absorb the loss. He fanned six and did not walk a batter.
