UNCASVILLE, Conn., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Lindsay Whalen scored 27 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 16 Friday night as Connecticut beat Detroit, 75-67. With the victory, the Sun advanced to the conference final after a two-game sweep of best-of-three Eastern Conference semi-final series.

Nykesha Sales grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds for the Sun, who will play Indiana in the Eastern Conference finals.

Deanna Nolan scored 23 points for the Shock, who were bounced in the first round for a second consecutive season after winning the WNBA championship in 2003.
