MLB: Toronto 4, Tampa Bay 3

TORONTO, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Shea Hillenbrand scored the winning run on a wild pitch Friday night as Toronto beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, 4-3.

Frank Menechino had two hits, including a solo home run, and Vernon Wells and Reed Johnson also had two hits each for the Blue Jays, who broke a two-game slide.

In relief, winner Scott Schoeneweis rose to 3-3. Miguel Batista threw a scoreless ninth inning to ring up his 25th save.

Toronto starter Kelly Downs had a season-high 11 strikeouts.

Jorge Cantu homered for Tampa Bay, which has dropped five straight after winning three in a row.

Losing pitcher Joe Borowski, whose wild pitch was costly, fell to 1-2.
