HOUSTON, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Brad Ausmus had four RBI Wednesday night as Houston belted the Cincinnati Reds, 10-0.
Jason Lane and Jose Vizcaino each hit a two-run homer and Chris Burke added three hits and scored three runs for the Astros, who have won two in a row. With the win, they remained one-half game behind Philadelphia for the top spot in the National League wild-card chase.
Houston out-hit the Reds 15-4.
Winner Andy Pettitte improved to 13-9. He allowed only four hits over seven scoreless innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
Austin Kearns had two hits for the Reds, who have dropped two in a row following a four-game winning streak.
Ken Griffey Jr. went 0-for-3 and had his season-high 15-game hitting streak snapped.
Loser Brandon Claussen dropped to 9-9. He suffered the first loss in his seven starts.
Houston outhit the Reds 15-4.
