WNBA: Detroit 60, San Antonio 59

SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Ruth Riley hit a game-winning lay-up with one second left to play Saturday night as Detroit edged San Antonio, 60-59.

The victory lifted the Shock to the .500 level at 13-13 with their fourth straight win.

Detroit was led in scoring by Riley, who had 20 points. Deanna Nolan was the only other Detroit player in double figures with 10 points.

The Silver Spurs, who sank to 7-23 overall after their fifth straight setback, were led by Marie Ferdinand, who scored a game-high 21 points.

Wendy Palmer-Daniel had 11 points and five rebounds.
