MLB: Florida 4, San Francisco 1

MIAMI, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Juan Encarnacion knocked in a run Sunday afternoon as Florida beat the San Francisco Giants, 4-1.

Juan Pierre went 2-for-4, driving in one run and scoring twice. Catcher Matt Treanor added two hits and scored a run.

Winner A.J. Burnett (11-6) held the Giants to one run on six hits over seven innings, with two walks and five strikeouts.

Over his last six starts, Burnett has given up only seven earned runs in 44 innings for an ERA of 1.43.

San Francisco scored its lone run in the eighth on a ground-out by Edgardo Alfonzo.

Losing pitcher Brad Hennessey dropped to 4-5. He yielded four runs and six hits over 4 2/3 innings with four walks and one strikeout.

The Marlins have won four of six.

San Francisco is 2-4 in its last six games.
