Alejandro Freire added two hits for the Orioles, who have won five of seven since Sam Perlozzo took over as manager following last week's firing of Lee Mazzilli.

Baltimore's Rafael Palmeiro returned after serving his 10-day suspension for violating baseball's steroid policy. However, the veteran slugger was held out of the lineup.

Doug Waechter (4-8) allowed four runs and eight hits over six innings to suffer the loss, the Devil Rays' fourth straight and sixth defeat in their last seven games.
