NEW YORK, July 31 (UPI) -- Tony Womack hit an RBI single in the 11th inning Sunday as the New York Yankees edge the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 8-7.
Jason Giambi homered twice and ended the month with 14 home runs -- the most by a Yankee player in one month since Mickey Mantle hit 14 July 1961, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Derek Jeter had four hits and drove in one run and Hideki Matsui added two hits and one RBI.
Winning pitcher Tom Gordon improved to 4-4 by hurling a hitless 11th. Loser Kevin Gregg dropped to 1-2.
Bengie Molina homered and drove in three runs, Jose Molina homered and Orlando Cabrera added three hits and three stolen bases for the Angels, who blew a late lead for the second day in a row.
