Jang wins Women's British Open

SOUTHPORT, England, July 31 (UPI) -- Jeong Jang shot a three-under 69 Sunday to capture the Women's British Open.

Winning wire-to-wire, Jang came in at 16-under-par 272. Her first LPGA win earned her $280,000.

"I feel just great and I don't know how to feel more than that," Jang said. "It's fantastic. It's really fun. I didn't know that golf could be this fun."

Sophie Gustafson fired a 5-under 67 and was the runner-up at 12-under-par 276. Fifteen-year-old amateur Michelle Wie, who birdied her final two holes to shoot a 3-under 69 Sunday, shared third place with Young Kim at 10-under-par 278.

Leading money-winner Annika Sorenstam, whose closing 71 included a critical double-bogey at 18, finished in a tie for fifth with Cristie Kerr and Liselotte Neumann at 9-under 279.
