MLB: Chi. White Sox 9, Baltimore 6

BALTIMORE, July 30 (UPI) -- A three-run homer by A.J. Pierzynski in the eighth inning Saturday helped the Chicago White Sox beat Baltimore, 9-6.

Jermaine Dye also homered for the White Sox. Dye and Pierzynski went back-to-back in a four-run eighth inning as Chicago won its second straight and fourth in its last six.

In relief, winning pitcher Neal Cotts improved to 3-0. Joe Crede also homered, Tadahito Iguchi and Pierzynski both had three hits and Dustin Hermanson got his 24th save.

Chicago has won seven of nine and 16 of its last 21 on the road.

Loser Chris Ray sank to 0-3. Jay Gibbons and Sal Fasano each had two hits for Baltimore, which is 2-12 in its last 14 games and is 4-12 since the All-Star break -- falling to fourth place in the American League East.

Baltimore starter Daniel Cabrera was lifted in the second inning after being hit on the wrist by a line drive.
