MLB: Cleveland 6, Seattle 5

SEATTLE, July 29 (UPI) -- Cleveland edged Seattle, 6-5 Thursday night on an eighth inning single by Jose Hernandez.

Victor Martinez went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and Ronnie Belliard had two hits and two RBI to help the Indians to their fourth victory in six games.

Seattle tied the game at 5-5 on a three-run homer by Raul Ibanez in the bottom of the seventh but the Indians quickly forged back ahead.

Jeff Liefer drilled a leadoff double off J.J. Putz (4-4) and his pinchrunner, Brandon Phillips, scored two outs later when Hernandez pulled a ground ball off Ron Villone through the left side of the infield.

Bob Howry (6-2) got the final out in the seventh and then threw a perfect eighth to record the win. Bob Wickman notched his 26th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
