MLB: Pittsburgh 3, Colorado 0

PITTSBURGH, July 24 (UPI) -- Freddy Sanchez had two hits and Jose Castillo homered Sunday as Pittsburgh beat the Colorado Rockies, 3-0.

The Pirates have won three of four on the heels of a five-game losing streak.

Winning pitcher Mark Redman improved to 5-10. He yielded six hits over eight scoreless innings with one walk and five strikeouts, snapping a career-high six-game losing streak and earning his first win since June 10.

Jose Mesa preserved the shutout by recording the final three outs of the game for his 24th save.

Luis Gonzalez went 3-for-4 and Garrett Atkins had two hits for Colorado, which has dropped four of six.

Loser Shawn Chacon sank to 1-7. He was touched for three runs and eight hits over seven innings with one walk and five strikeouts.

Colorado is just 10-40 on the road.
