NEW YORK, July 19 (UPI) -- Chris Woodward had a pinch-hit two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning Tuesday to hand the New York Mets a 3-1 victory over the San Diego Padres.
Woodward followed a one-out single by Mike Piazza with a drive to left-center field bleachers against Chris Hammond (5-1). It was his third home run of the season and first ever as a pinch hitter.
