Miami Dolphins tap veterans for radio

MIAMI, July 12 (UPI) -- Former Miami Dolphins Joe Rose and Jimmy Cefalo will be the new color commentator and play-by-play announcer, respectively, for Miami games on WAXY-AM.

Rose, who caught Dan Marino's first touchdown pass in 1983, is as boisterous as Cefalo is understated, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

"Their opinions come from a knowledge base of being there before," Joe Bailey, chief executive officer of Dolphins Enterprises, said Monday in introducing the team for the 790 The Ticket radio station team. "Their chemistry will be terrific."

Rose said he will not try to imitate former Dolphins tight end Jim Mandich, whose "All right, Miami!" was a trademark of his 13 seasons.

"It's like coming back home," said Cefalo, who succeeds Howard David as play-by-play announcer.

The longtime friends last worked together as receivers during their losing Super Bowl XIX effort in 1985.
