Jazz sign draft picks Williams and Miles

SALT LAKE CITY, July 11 (UPI) -- The Utah Jazz signed NBA draft picks Deron Williams and C.J. Miles Monday.

The 6-foot-3 Williams was the highest draft pick in University of Illinois history. The Jazz traded three first round picks to Portland in order to select him No. 3 overall.

Williams was a consensus Second Team All-American with Illinois last season. The guard was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament's Chicago Regional and earned a spot on the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team as well.

A First Team All-Big Ten selection, Williams ended his collegiate career second in school history with 594 assists and also became the first player in conference history to lead the league in assists in each of his first three seasons.

Miles, a 6-foot-6 guard, was the 34th overall pick. He averaged 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists with Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas.
