MLB: Cleveland 8, NY Yankees 7

NEW YORK, July 9 (UPI) -- Jose Hernandez had two homers and five RBI Saturday as the Cleveland Indians beat the New York Yankees, 8-7, and spoiled Old Timers' Day at Yankee Stadium.

With Phil Rizzuto, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and other Yankee legends on hand, Cleveland jumped on Darrell May in his New York debut for three homers and seven runs in just 4 1/3 innings.

Hernandez was 3-for-5 and Travis Hafner 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Indians, who ended a four-game losing streak. Jhonny Peralta added a solo homer for Cleveland.

Scott Elarton got the win in his first career start at Yankee Stadium. Elarton (6-3) allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings, improving to 6-1 in his last 10 starts.

May (1-4) wasted a four-homer effort by his offense, yielding seven runs on eight hits. Alex Rodriguez, Gary Sheffield, Hideki Matsui and Ruben Sierra all homered for the Yankees, who had a six-game winning streak halted.
