DETROIT, July 5 (UPI) -- The Detroit Pistons and have resumed talks with representatives for Larry Brown but ESPN.com reported the coach's future with the team remains in doubt.
ESPN.com reported Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars was to receive a health update Tuesday from Brown's agent, Joe Glass.
Brown is on vacation and did not participate in Tuesday's discussions, sources told ESPN.com, but more talks are expected this week.
Brown was discharged Friday from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, apparently without a definitive treatment course or timetable for dealing with health issues that bothered him for much of the 2004-05 season.
ESPN.com said Pistons owner Bill Davidson is believed to want assurances Brown is healthy enough to coach before committing to bring Brown back for the third season of his current five-year contract. Davidson also reportedly wants assurances from Brown that he genuinely wants to coach the Pistons -- following rampant speculation that Brown had his eye on other possible jobs in basketball.
