MLB: Florida 7, N.Y. Mets 3

NEW YORK, July 2 (UPI) -- Juan Encarnacion had four hits and three RBI Saturday afternoon as the Florida Marlins topped the New York Mets, 7-3.

The win made Brian Moehler 3-6 for the season. The right-hander got his first win since May 16, when he beat the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He had been 0-5 in eight starts since then.

In 5 1/3 innings, Moehler allowed three runs and nine hits with two walks and one strikeout.

Losing pitcher Kris Benson dropped to 6-3, suffering his first defeat since May 31.

Benson yielded eight hits and five runs in six innings. He fell to 4-1 in eight career starts against Florida, which won for the seventh time in 10 games.

The Mets had won two straight and three of their previous four. They hit into three double plays.

Carlos Beltran had two doubles and drove in two runs for New York. Juan Pierre stole his 20th base for the Marlins.
