MLB: San Francisco 9, Arizona 2

PHOENIX, July 1 (UPI) -- Lance Niekro hit a three-run homer Thursday night as the San Francisco Giants belted Arizona, 9-2.

Winning pitcher Noah Lowry, who threw six innings of one-run ball, raised his mark to 5-7 and also drove in two runs at the plate.

He allowed just three hits with four walks and five strikeouts.

Brett Tomko recorded his first save. Ray Durham also homered for the Giants, who had lost four games in a row.

Luis Gonzalez and Shawn Green homered for Arizona. Loser Shawn Estes fell to 6-6. Estes was charged with eight runs and five hits and three walks in just 2 1/3 innings. He walked three and had no strikeouts.
