MLB: L.A. Angels 5, Texas 1

ARLINGTON, Texas, June 29 (UPI) -- Garret Anderson slugged a game-winning grand slam in the 11th inning to lift the L.A. Angels of Anaheim to a 5-1 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Anderson drilled an 0-1 offering from lefthander Brian Shouse over the wall in right field. It was his seventh career grand slam and his first since May 8, 2003.

Darin Erstad, Maicer Izturis and Adam Kennedy each had two hits for the Angels.

Brendan Donnelly (6-2) picked up the victory by throwing a clean 10th inning.

Michael Young scored the only run with a homer for the Rangers.

Jarrod Washburn was charged with seven hits and the homer to Young in seven innings for the Angels, while John Wasdin allowed five hits and one run in eight innings for Texas.

The Angels have an 8 1/2 game lead in the division for the first time since Aug. 25, 1995.
