MLB: Washington 5, Toronto 2

WASHINGTON, June 25 (UPI) -- Marlon Byrd had two hits and two RBI Saturday night as the Washington Nationals got by Toronto, 5-2.

Winning pitcher Livan Hernandez (11-2) recorded his 10th straight win, moving to within one of tying Dennis Martinez's club-record winning streak -- set from May 9-July 29, 1989, while the team was in Montreal.

Hernandez allowed two runs and seven hits over 7 1/3 innings with three walks and four strikeouts. Chad Cordero retired four straight batters to convert his 22nd consecutive save chance and 25th save overall this season.

Losing pitcher Ted Lilly dropped to 5-8. Lilly gave up four runs and four hits with three walks and two strikeouts while hurling only four innings.

Gregg Zaun had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Jays, who have dropped five of their last eight. Washington now is 12-5 in inter-league play this season, extended its winning streak at RFK Stadium to 12 games.
