Furyk still leads Barclays Classic

HARRISON, N.Y., June 24 (UPI) -- Jim Furyk fired 2-under 69 Friday to maintain the lead after 36 holes at the Barclays Classic at Harrison County Club in Westchester, N.Y.

Furyk recorded an eagle at the eighth hole. The 2003 U.S. Open winner ended his round by sinking a birdie putt at No. 18 after a couple of bogeys on the back nine.


He stands at 8-under-par 134, one shot better than Brian Gay.

Padraig Harrington (65), Len Mattiace (65), Kenny Perry (68), John Senden (67) and Hidemichi Tanaka (68) are tied for third place at 6-under-par 136. Kevin Sutherland is alone in eighth at 4-under-par 138 after a second-round 68.

Two-time winner Vijay Singh struggled to an even-par 71 on Friday and is tied for ninth place with Tom Pernice Jr. (69) at 3-under-par 139.

Defending champion Sergio Garcia is part of a group tied for 33rd at 1-over-par 143.
