DETROIT, June 19 (UPI) -- A two-run homer by Placido Polanco in the bottom of the 10th inning Sunday lifted the Detroit Tigers over the San Francisco Giants, 10-8.
The win gave Detroit its fifth win in six games.

Before Polanco's heroics, the Tigers were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth, trailing 8-6, when Chris Shelton hit a two-run homer to tie the contest.
Winner Jamie Walker improved to 3-3. He pitched a scoreless 10th.
Rondell White added a solo home run for Detroit.
Loser Scott Eyre fell to 1-1. Todd Linden hit a three-run homer and Lance Niekro a two-run shot for the Giants.
