MLB: Pittsburgh 2, Boston 0

BOSTON, June 18 (UPI) -- Dave Williams and two relievers combined on a six-hit shutout Saturday night as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat Boston, 2-0.

With the victory, the Pirates snapped a five-game losing streak.

Williams allowed five hits and four walks in six innings with four strikeouts.

Winner Rick White improved to 3-3, yielding one hit in two innings of relief. Jose Mesa, who retired the Red Sox in order in the bottom of the ninth, picked up his 18th save of the year.

Ryan Doumit and Humberto Cota each drove in a run for the Pirates.

Reliever Alan Embree was the loser, falling to 1-4.
