DETROIT, June 15 (UPI) -- Placido Polanco and Craig Monroe had three hits apiece Wednesday night as the Detroit Tigers beat San Diego Padres, 8-2.
Polanco had three RBI and Monroe slammed a two-run homer as Detroit recorded its fourth win in five games.

Winning pitcher Mike Maroth improved to 5-7. He yielded one run and six hits in eight innings to break his five-game losing streak.
San Diego starter Adam Eaton fell to 9-2 with his first loss in nearly two months. He was touched for seven hits and six runs in 2 1/3 innings with two walks, two hit batsmen and one strikeout.
Dave Roberts had two hits for the Padres.
