Agassi to again miss Wimbledon

LONDON, June 14 (UPI) -- Former Wimbledon champion Andre Agassi announced Tuesday that he will skip this year's Wimbledon due to a hip injury.

Agassi, ranked No. 6 in the world, also missed last year's Wimbledon with an ailing hip. He lost to unranked Jarkko Nieminen at the French Open three weeks ago while battling the injury.

In his career, the 35-year-old Agassi has won every major tennis tournament at least once and also has an Olympic gold medal to his name.

Agassi won Wimbledon in 1991, and lost in the 1999 finals to long-time rival Pete Sampras.

Wimbledon seeds are to be announced Wednesday, with the draws revealed Thursday at the All England Club.
