Edwards takes Pocono 500

LONG POND, Pa., June 12 (UPI) -- Carl Edwards won the Pocono 500 auto race Sunday at Long Pond, Pa.

It was his second victory of the year, as well as the second of his career.

Brian Vickers was second, with Joe Nemechek, Kyle Busch and Michael Waltrip -- who led the first 29 laps -- completing the top five.

Nextel Cup points leader Jimmie Johnson finished seventh and expanded his lead to 123 over Greg Biffle.

Edwards jumped five positions in the points race with the victory.
