Emerson continues lead at KLM Open

HILVERSUM, Netherlands, June 11 (UPI) -- Gary Emerson of England had a pair of eagles Saturday while posting a 1-under 69 to keep the lead through three rounds of the KLM Open.

Emerson, at 9-under 201 and is one shot ahead of Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano who had a 66 and Paul Broadhurst, who birdied two of his final three holes for a 69.

Markus Brier also shot 69 and is fourth place at 6-under 204.

Emerson began the third round with a one-shot lead.

"I had a sticky patch in the middle of the round, but I never felt it slipping away from me," said Emerson, whose only tour victory came at last year's Russian Open. "It's going to be a big day for me tomorrow, but I'm determined to take it one step at a time."

Maarten Lafeber (70) Peter Senior (68) and Alessandro Tadini (71) are tied for fifth at 5-under 205.
