MLB: Arizona 4, Minnesota 3

PHOENIX, June 9 (UPI) -- Jose Cruz Jr. led off a three-run fourth with a home run Thursday night and Arizona held off Minnesota, 4-3.

Javier Vazquez (6-4) lasted six innings while giving up three hits and three runs to get the win. Kyle Lohse (5-4) suffered the loss by giving up four runs on seven hits over four innings.

Arizona built a 4-0 lead, after which Justin Morneau hit a solo homer for Minnesota in the fifth and Jacque Jones produced a two-run shot in the sixth.

The Twins put runners on first and second with two away in the ninth, but Brian Bruney struck out Matt LeCroy swinging to end the game.
