NEW YORK, June 8 (UPI) -- Brandon Backe gave up a run on four hits in six innings Wednesday night, carrying Houston to a 4-1 win over the New York Mets.

Backe (6-3) gave Houston only its sixth road win of the season. Craig Biggio, Morgan Ensberg, Jason Lane and Orlando Palmeiro had RBIs with Palmeiro blasting a homer.

New York's Victor Zambrano (3-6) allowed three runs on six hits in six innings.

Mets catcher Mike Piazza left the game after one inning with a bruised left wrist, suffered on a foul ball from Todd Self. X-rays were negative.
