DETROIT, May 31 (UPI) -- Both Kenny Rogers and his Texas teammates continued to dominate Tuesday night as the Rangers won their ninth straight, 8-2 over Detroit.
Rogers went seven innings to win his seventh consecutive start. Texas equaled the second-longest winning streak in franchise history with Kevin Mench hitting a two-run homer and Chad Allen driving in two runs.
The Rangers have averaged eight runs a game during their winning streak while their pitchers have produced a combined ERA of 2.22.
Rogers (7-2) gave up a run on three hits. Mike Maroth (4-5) took the loss, giving up six runs on nine hits in 4 2/3. The Tigers had won three in a row.
