MLB: New York Yankees 6, Boston 3

NEW YORK, May 27 (UPI) -- Home runs by Robinson Cano and Gary Sheffield highlighted a five-run sixth inning Friday night, rallying the New York Yankees to a 6-3 win over Boston.

Randy Johnson (5-3) shook off early problems to get the win, giving up three runs in six innings. He escaped a bases-loaded jim in the first as the Yankees won their fifth straight and 16th out of 17.

Tim Wakefield (4-4) walked seven and gave up four runs in five innings. The Red Sox have lost eight of 11.

Boston had a 3-1 lead going into the sixth, but Cano hit a two-run homer to tie the game and Sheffield later delivered a three-run shot.
