COLORADO SPRINGS, May 26 (UPI) -- Nine basketball veterans have been chosen to advise the newly formed USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team, it was announced Thursday.
The group will include the United States' most experienced and successful basketball executives like past USA Basketball presidents Tom Jernstedt and Dave Gavtt, who was coach of the 1980 men's Olympic team.
It also includes Phoenix Suns president and general manager Bryan Colangelo, who recently was named NBA Executive of the Year, and Philadelphia 76ers President and General Manager Billy King.
In a statement, USA Basketball said the panel will provide input and serve as a resource for the managing director regarding USA Men's Senior National Team coach and player selection, and other program matters.
The panel will hold its first meetings in Chicago June 6-7.
