FT. WORTH, Texas, May 22 (UPI) -- Kenny Perry shot a 69 Sunday to win The Colonial by seven strokes for his fourth victory this year on the PGA Tour.
Perry, 44, wound up at 19-under 261 to move ahead of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh, who each have won three times this season.
Billy Mayfair also shot 69 for his best finish since a tie for third at the 2001 British Open. He finished in second place at 12-under-par 268. David Toms, Peter Lonard and Joe Durant were one stroke further back.
Perry, who got his ninth PGA Tour win, was on a streak of 53 consecutive holes without a bogey before he double-bogeyed Sunday's 17th. He parred the last hole to tie the tournament record of 261 that he set in 2003.
"I was hoping to shoot 21-under, but just came up short," said Perry, who earned $1,008,000 Sunday. "It was a great week."
