Report: Winslow to miss 2005 season

CLEVELAND, May 19 (UPI) -- Cleveland tight end Kellen Winslow will miss all of the 2005 season with a torn knee ligament, it was reported Thursday.

Cleveland's WKYC-TV reported the severity of Winslow's situation after he underwent an MRI. He suffered the injury in a motorcycle accident earlier this month.

The report indicated Winslow could have surgery within a month and that the rehabilitation period could last up to a year.

Winslow was hospitalized for nine days after the accident. He was the sixth pick in last year's draft out of Miami. His rookie season lasted less than two games because of a broken right leg suffered against the Dallas Cowboys.

He wound up with five catches for 50 yards.
