Denver forward Martin has knee surgery

DENVER, May 16 (UPI) -- Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin had arthroscopic surgery Monday on his left knee.

Martin, who is scheduled to begin rehabilitation within the next two weeks, is expected to be ready to play next season.

Martin, 27, played in 70 games this past season for the Nuggets. He made 67 starts, and averaged 15.5 points and 7.3 rebounds. He averaged 12.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in the opening-round playoff series against San Antonio, which beat Denver four games to one.

Martin was acquired by Denver from New Jersey on July 15, 2004 in exchange for three future first-round draft picks. The top overall selection by the Nets in the 2000 NBA Draft, Martin has averaged 15.2 points and 7.5 rebounds over 353 career games.
