MLB: Detroit 2, Texas 0

ARLINGTON, Texas, May 9 (UPI) -- Craig Monroe hit a two-out triple in the ninth Monday to drive in a run and scored himself to give the Detroit Tigers a 2-0 win over the Texas Rangers.

Detroit pitcher Nate Robertson (1-2) had eight shutout innings of six-hit ball.

Hank Blalock and Rod Barajas each had two hits for the Rangers, who totaled seven hits while being held scoreless for just the second time this season.

Dimitri Young started the ninth inning uprising with a two-out walk off of Francisco Cordero (0-1). Monroe then tripled for one run and scored on Carlos Pena's single for the other.
