MLB: LA Dodgers 2, Colorado 1

LOS ANGELES, May 1 (UPI) -- Jeff Kent backed up Derek Lowe's pitching with a pair of RBI Sunday to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

Lowe (2-2), suffering from flu-like symptoms, allowed one run on five hits and no walks in six innings.

Cesar Izturis scored both runs for the Dodgers, who had lost six of seven entering the weekend.

"We won with pitching today," said Dodgers Manager Jim Tracy. "Derek didn't feel very good at all. He was weak. To do the job he did was tremendous and our bullpen stepped up."

Brad Hawpe drove in Colorado's only run in the first inning. The Rockies have lost five straight.
