RICHMOND, Va., April 22 (UPI) -- Former NFL player Michael Brim died this week in a shootout with another man that Richmond, Va., police say began as an argument over a woman.

Brim was found dead Tuesday night in the driveway of a house owned by the brother of Gary Miles, who allegedly fired the fatal shot, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

Miles told investigators that Brim came to the karate center where he works and the two men argued. He decided to go to his brother's and Brim followed him there.

Miles said that Brim fired several shots at him, wounding him in the leg. He returned fire. So far, no criminal charges have been filed.

Brim, a star cornerback at Virginia Union University, was drafted by the Phoenix Cardinals in 1988. His NFL career ended in 1995 after time with the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and finally three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.
