MLB: New York Mets 10, Florida 1

MIAMI, April 21 (UPI) -- Doug Mientkiewicz hit a grand slam homer as part of a seven-run second Thursday night, sending the New York Mets coasting past Florida, 10-1.

Pedro Martinez picked up the win with a seven-inning effort.

The Mets scored their 10 runs on 10 hits with Carlos Beltran chipping in with a home run and three RBI.

Martinez (2-0) surrendered a run on three hits. He has allowed no more than three hits in any of his four starts with the Mets.

Florida's Al Leiter (0-2) was knocked around for eight runs on six hits and five walks in just three innings.

The Marlins had won their four previous games.

Two walks and an infield single loaded the bases in the second and set up the grand slam by Mientkiewicz.
